Applying a style to a Line and Tick scale bar

With Line and Tick selected as the scale-bar type, you can determine the color, thickness, and height of the ticks. With Single bar, Double bar, or Triple bar selected as the scale-bar type, you can determine the color and pattern of the divisions and subdivisions, and the height and the outline.

For example, with a Line and Tick scale bar, the ticks can overlap the scale bar, as shown in the following figure:

You can select the pattern colors of the bar-type scale, as shown in the following figure:

To apply a style to a Line and Tick scale bar

  1. In the Scale bar Properties window, clickClick the Scale Bar Type tab, and then under Scale Bar Type, make sure Tick and Line is selected.
  2. Click the Style tab.
  3. Under Scalebar, do the following:
    • Beside Style, click the button, and then create a style for the bar (see Selecting a style).
    • If you want the ticks to overlap the scale bar, select the Center ticks vertically on scale bar check box.
  4. Under Division Ticks, do the following:
    • Beside Style, click the button, and then create a style for the division ticks.
    • In the Tick height box, type or select a value to represent the length of a division tick.
  5. Under Subdivision Ticks, do the following:
    • Beside Style, click the button, and then create a style for the subdivision ticks.
    • In the Tick height spin box, type or select a value to represent the length of the subdivision tick.
