Changing the status of a status polygon

While you progress through DEM-editing quality-assurance tasks, you can change the status of problem areas to identify their current state. For example, after you edit an area with a status of Problem, you can change the status of that area to Resolved to indicate that the problem has been fixed. When the final result is confirmed, change the status of the polygon to Verified.

To change the status of a status polygon

  1. Using the DEM Editing tools, make changes per the comments on the status polygon.
  2. In the DEM Editing window, open an existing Status Polygons layer.

On the Status Polygons tab, to display all status polygons, click the Show check box.

  3. Using the Focus selection tool, select the polygon that identifies the area that contains your recent DEM edits.

In the DEM Editing window, on the Status Polygons tab, the current state of the polygon and the original comment are shown.

  4. In the Status list, click the status that applies to the polygon:
    • Problem: identifies an area that requires DEM editing. Problem areas appear in the Focus viewer shaded in red.

    • Resolved: identifies an area of the DEM that has been edited and is ready for verification. Resolved areas appear in the Focus viewer shaded in blue.

    • Verified: identifies an area of the DEM that has been edited and verified. Verified areas appear in the Focus viewer shaded in green.

Alternatively, in the Focus viewer, zoom in or out, as applicable, to display the area that you want to examine. To create a polygon with the full extent of the current viewing area, click Set View As Verified. The status of the polygon is set automatically to Verified.

  5. If necessary, update the comment to describe the DEM edits or any further action required.
  6. Save the DEM Status Polygons layer.
