Adding a rectangle or ellipse to an active layer

If necessary, you can add one or more rectangles or ellipses to an active layer.

To add a rectangle or ellipse to an active layer

  1. On the Editing toolbar, click the arrow beside New Shapes, and then click Rectangle or Ellipse, as applicable.
  2. In the view pane, click where you want to add a rectangle or ellipse.

    To draw a rectangle, start at a corner of the area where you want to draw a rectangle. To draw an ellipse, start in the center of the area.

  3. Drag to form the shape.

    To create a square or a circle, hold down the Shift key, and then drag to form the shape.
