Setting up DEM Editing

To copy from the Full Res. Ortho Preview window, you must first set up DEM Editing.

To set up DEM Editing

  1. Open the image file in which you want to copy from the full-resolution ortho.
  2. Zoom, pan, or both, as necessary to the AOI you want to repair.

At this point you are inspecting the final ortho image and looking for anomalies. When you find an area of difficulty, you can then inspect the DEM that was used to generate that ortho image.

  3. On the Files tab, expand Rasters, right-click the DEM, point to View, and then click As Grayscale.
  4. On the Layer menu, click DEM Editing.

The DEM is displayed as color-shaded relief, and the DEM Editing window appears. At this point, you can confirm whether the area of difficulty in the ortho image is caused by a problematic DEM.

  5. In the DEM Editing window, on the Settings tab, select the Enable Smart GeoFill Special Settings check box, and then to generate the orthos at the same size as the output mosaic, type the resolution in the 1:1 Pixel Size box.

For more information about the Smart GeoFill special settings, see Setting up DEM editing.

  6. In the DEM Editing window, click Define Preview Region, and then in the viewer, draw a rectangle around the AOI.

The Full Res. Ortho Preview window appears, displaying the AOI.

  7. Proceed to Copying the pixels with Smart GeoFill.
