Opening a file

You can open files by doing any of the following:
  • On the File menu, click Open
  • On the Maps tab or the Files tab, right-click, and then on the menu that appears, click Open
  • Drag one or more PCIDSK files and other supported file types from your file explorer to Focus
  • Press Ctrl+O
The types of files you can open range from a Focus project file (.gpr) through various image formats, such as JPEG, TIFF, vector and shape formats, sensor-specific data files, such as SPOT-5, and many more.
Tip: To see all the supported file types, in the File Selector window, click the Files of type list.

When you open data files, each file, including its available layers, appears on the Files tab.

Note: On opening a file, the image channel displayed is based on the metadata. If the DefaultPeusdo tag exists, the pseudocolor table (PCT) map layer is displayed. If the image has three or more channels, it is displayed as red, green, and blue (RGB). If the image has fewer than three channels, channel 1 is displayed as a PCT or, if a PCT does not exist, as a lookup table (LUT).

To open a file

  1. On the File menu, click Open.
  2. In the File Selector window, find the data you want.

When selecting hyperspectral images, the associated .pix file and the folder containing the .hdf and .txt files should be at the same folder level.

  3. Select the file or files you want, and then click Open.

The image data opens in the view pane. The first three image channels are selected automatically. The file components appear on the Maps tab and the Files tab. If the file you opened does not have raster data, the first vector layer is opened in a new map.

Note: With color images, TM Bands 1, 2, and 3 representing the red, green, and blue (RGB) image channels appear on the Maps tab under New Area.

When you open an image containing a math-model segment, you can select whether to use the georeferencing or a math model.
