Image viewer toolbars

The available toolbars in the image viewer window are as follows:

Zoom toolbar

The Zoom toolbar features tools you use to adjust the magnification level and move around in the image.

Button Name Description
Zoom to Overview button Zoom to Overview Adjust the magnification so that the entire image appears in the viewer.
Zoom Interactive button Zoom Interactive Drag a rectangle over the area you want to magnify.
Zoom In button Zoom In Increase the magnification incrementally, centered on the cursor.
You can also:
  • Rotate the wheel button forward.

    To increment the zoom by a factor of two, hold down the Ctrl key, and then rotate the wheel button forward.

  • Click a location or feature in the image, and then press Page Up.
Zoom Out button Zoom Out Decrease the magnification incrementally, centered on the cursor.
You can also:
  • Rotate the wheel button backward.

    To increment the zoom by a factor of two, hold down the Ctrl key, and then rotate the wheel button backward.

  • Click a location or feature in the image, and then press Page Down.
Zoom 1:1 button Zoom 1:1 Adjust the magnification so that one screen pixel displays one image pixel, centered on the cursor.
Pan button Pan Drag the image to view a specific area.
You can also:
  • Pan horizontally to the left and right by, while holding down the Shift key, rotating the wheel button forward and backward, respectively.
  • Pan vertically up and down by, while holding down the Alt key, rotating the wheel button forward and backward, respectively.

Enhancement toolbar

The Enhancement toolbar features tools you use to select points in the viewer.

Button Name Description
None button Enhancements Apply an enhancement to a selected image.

Enhancements make the image on the screen clearer and easier to interpret without changing the actual values of the image file.

Click the arrow to select from the following according to the enhancement you want:
  • None
  • Linear
  • Root
  • Adaptive
  • Equalize
  • Infrequency
  • Tail Trim
  • Exclude Min/Max
  • Set Trim %

Contrast button Contrast Adjust the light and dark extremes in the images.

To increase or decrease the light and dark extremes, click the arrow beside Contrast, and then click Increase Contrast, Decrease Contrast, or Reset Contrast, as applicable.

Brightness button Brightness Adjust the overall luminosity (amount of light) in the images.

To increase or decrease overall luminosity, click the arrow beside Brightness, and then click Increase Brightness, Decrease Brightness, or Reset Brightness, as applicable.

Vector toolbar

The Vector toolbar features Load Vector, a tool you use to open the General Vector Information window, in which you can view vector information, such as the name and description, and whether to show the vector in the viewer. You can also load a vector file.

Button Name Description
Load Vector Load Vector Open the General Vector Information window, in which you can view vector information, select whether to show the vector in the viewer, and load a vector file.

Tools toolbar

The Tools toolbar features tools you use to view and change the mapping of red, green, and blue channels.

Button Name Description
Cursor Control button Cursor Control Open the Cursor Control window, in which you can define the cursor position in three of the following coordinate systems:
  • Raster
  • Geocoded
  • User-Defined Projection

You can move the cursor in any of the supported coordinate systems by changing the associated coordinates.

RGB Mapper RGB Mapper Open the RGB Mapper window, in which you can view and change the mapping of the red, blue, and green channels.
