Making images active and inactive

In OrthoEngine, you can designate one or more of the images in your project as either active or inactive.

Among the many benefits of this feature, you can use it to, for example:
  • Process only a select group of images
  • Exclude problematic images
  • Exclude images that are processed sufficiently and process only those images requiring additional adjustment
  • Exclude nonessential images, such as flight-line transitions in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images
  • Collect ground control points (GCP) or tie points (TP) on a select group of images

Making use of active and inactive images can help you manage your project more efficiently and, depending on the quantity of images, significantly reduce processing time and project effort overall.

By default, each image in your project is active. An active image is included in any processing you want to do on your project. When you deactivate an image, it is still in your project, but is excluded from processing. At any time—except while a process is running—you can activate an inactive image, which makes it available to include in processing.

You can make an image active or inactive in the Raw Image Summary Table window and the Project Overview window. After designating an image as active or inactive you can, if necessary, remove the inactive image from your project in the Rename/Remove Images window. When you review residual errors in your project in the Residual Errors window, you can, if necessary, show points in only your active images.

Note: When you deactivate an active image or activate an inactive image, your math model will be out of date. Consider whether you want to recompute the math model to incorporate the change.
