Each data element that you add to your work, such as maps, areas, layers, channels, and segments, has various properties. On the Maps tab of the control pane, each new and saved element is displayed.
Metadata files, such as lookup tables (LUT), pseudocolor tables (PCT), ground control points (GCP), and signatures also have properties. When working with project files or PCIDSK (.pix) files, you can view the properties and, if necessary, make changes, such as renaming and removing data.
Each properties dialog box has tabs with layer-specific information that you can view and change according to the data type you are working with. The properties are specific to the selected file and type and vary according to the selected layer type.
