Setting up point refinement

To set up point refinement, you select the type of points you want to refine, the mode to use, how you want to dispose of the points desinated for removal, and then enter the maximum x and y residual per point.

To set up point refinement

  1. Under the Refine Points check box, click the Refinement mode list, and then do one of the following:
    • To reject points iteratively, click Progressive.

Points with a very high RMS threshold will be removed. The threshold is reduced iteratively based on the maximum x and y residual you specify.

    • To reject points at the specific threshold you specify, click Direct.

That is, points are rejected at precisely the maximum x and y residual you specify.

  2. Beside Points, click the type of points you want to refine: GCPs, TPs, or Both.
  3. Based on your selection in the previous step, in the Maximum x, y residual per GCP box, the Maximum x, y residual per TP box, or both, type or select a value representing the threshold at which to reject the relevant points.
Note: The value is the residual of the x and y per point, and not the RMS of all points.
  4. To deactivate images that do not have enough TPs, select the Deactivate images with insufficient TPs check box, and then below in the Minimum number of TPs box, type or select the number you want.
  5. Click the Refinement action list, and then click one of the following according to how you want to dispose of the points removed:
    • To designate removed points as inactive, click Deactivate.
    • To permanently remove the points from the project, click Delete.
  6. Do one of the following:
