Transferring layers

In the Transfer Layers window you can copy one or more layers (or segments) from a source file and save them to a similarly georeferenced destination file. You can add the data as a new layer in the destination file or you can overwrite an existing one. Transferring a layer does not modify the source file.

Although you can transfer layers from any GDB-supported file, the destination file must be an existing PCIDSK file. You cannot transfer georeferencing between files. The input imagery is modified to match the dimensions of the destination file.

To transfer one or more layers

  1. On the Tools menu, click Transfer Layers. The Transfer Layers window appears.
  2. To the left of Source file, click Browse.

That is, if you already have a file open in the File Utility window, the file appears as the source file in the Transfer Layers window. If you do not have a file open, click Browse, and then select the source file you want.

  3. In the Destination file box, type the path and file name of the file you want or, to select a file, click Browse.
Note: The destination file must already exist.
  4. Under Source Layers, select one or more layers to include in the output file and, if necessary, do one or more of the following:
    • To filter the list by layer type, in the View list, select the type you want.
    • To select all layers in the list, click Select All.

You can also select a group or range of layers.

  5. Click Add.

The layer or layers you selected appear under Destination Layers. To remove a layer or layers, select one or more, and then click Remove. To select only the layers or segments you have added to the Destination Layers list, click Select Transferred.

  6. Click Transfer Layers.

The selected layers are transfered to the destination file you specified.
