Using Overview Manager

In the Overview Manager window you can can create, manage, and remove raster overviews for a specific image file or layer. The window also displays relevant information about the current file, layer, and any existing overviews.

A raster overview is a reduced-resolution version of the raster itself. Using overviews can significantly increase your efficiency—espcially when working with large data sets—because overviews open and display much faster than full-resolution rasters.

Note: Building raster overviews can use a large amount of disk space. Make sure you have sufficient disk-free space before creating overviews.
To open the Overview Manager window in Do this
Focus
  • On the File menu, point to Utility, and then click Overview Manager.
OrthoEngine
  1. On the File menu, click File Utility.
  2. In the File Utility window, click the Edit menu, and then click Overview Manager.
Modeler
  1. On the File menu, click Utility.
  2. In the File Utility window, click the Edit menu, and then click Overview Manager.
Chip Manager
  1. On the File menu, click Utility.
  2. In the File Utility window, click the Edit menu, and then click Overview Manager.
FLY!
  1. On the File menu, click File Utility.
  2. In the File Utility window, click the Edit menu, and then click Overview Manager.
