Creating a file

You can create a file of a given type to create in the New File Type Selector window.

To open the New File Type Selector window
  1. In the File Utility window, on the File menu, click New.

    The New File Type Selector window appears.

  2. To create a new file, under File Format, click the format type you want, and then click OK.

    With the exception of the ARC/Info Generate, AutoCAD DXF, and USGS DLG, a new window appears, specific to the type you selected, in which you enter information necessary to create the file.

The file you created is now the active file.

Note: At this time, the file does not contain any data. Data is written to the file only when you save it.
