Comparing results with Google Earth

To perform an initial check of your exterior orientation (EO) or a final check and validation of your ortho images, you can examine your data with Google Earth to ensure that the orientation and position are specified properly.

To examine your data with Google Earth

  1. In CATALYST Professional Focus, open your data.
  2. Pan to an area of interest, and then zoom to a scale of interest.
  3. On the File menu, click Export to Google Earth.
  4. In the Output file box, type a name for the file, or click Browse to select a file.
  5. Select the Display results in Google Earth check box.
  6. Click Export.

If there are any major differences with the orientation, ensure that you specified the proper angular units for the orientation angles, and that the proper kappa value (or kappa offset) was applied.
