Selecting, deleting, and moving points graphically

You can graphically select ground control points (GCPs), tie points (TPs), and/or check points (CPs) in the GCP and Tie Point Collection Viewers, and in the Geocoded Image or Geocoded Vector Viewers, using the Selection tools. If you wish, you can easily delete points that you have graphically selected.

The availability of points for selection in the viewer depends on the visibility options that are set using the Points Visibility tool.

To select points, click the Selection Tools arrow and click the Selection tool that is most appropriate for your selection.
- Use Individual to select a single point. To select another non-neighboring point, press Shift or Ctrl while clicking the point.
- Use Circular to select points within or partially within a circle. Drag a circle over the region of points you want to select. All the points that are inside or that touch the circle are selected.
- Use Area to select points within or partially within a polygon. Click to create the polygon and double-click to complete it. All the points that are inside or that touch the polygon are selected.
The selected points appear in green in the viewer and are highlighted blue in the GCP Collection or Tie Point Collection windows, and in the Residual Errors window (if open).
To delete the selected point(s), do one of the following:
- In the GCP Collection or Tie Point Collection window, click Delete. In the Confirmation window that appears, click Delete.
- In the Residual Errors window, click Delete Point. In the Confirmation window that appears, click Delete.
- Press the Delete key on the keyboard.
The deleted points are removed from the Point Collection window and the Residual Errors window. The points are also removed from the viewer.

Note: For geocoded images, GCPs can be displayed for all images or for the working image only. If GCPs are displayed for all images and you choose to delete selected points, you can do so only in the Residual Errors window.

Note: Any changes made to GCPs, TPs, or CPs in the project renders the current math model out of date. When a math model is out of date, all information related to that model is also out of date. OrthoEngine indicates that a model is out of date by displaying a red status message that reads, "Model needs recomputing". When the model is recalculated, this message disappears. To recalculate the model, select Compute model in the Point Collection window.
