Mosaic WYSIWYG

By default, most commands that you apply to images in your mosaic project, such as normalization and color balancing, immediately update the display in the view pane as you work. You can choose to turn off the on-the-fly preview by changing the setup of mosaic WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get).

Note: Consider, however, that to display a more realistic mosaic, some of these options, when selected, may decrease rendering performance in Mosaic Tool.

To turn on or off the on-the-fly preview

Under Mosaic WYSIWYG, select or clear one or more of the following check boxes, as applicable:
- Hot Spot normalization: Images normalized with this method appear in the viewer showing the effects of the operation.
  With a clear check box, images do not appear differently in the preview, but are processed differently when generating the final mosaic. By default, this check box is selected.
- Adaptive normalization (very slow): Images normalized with this method appear in the viewer showing the effects of the operation.
  With a clear check box, images do not appear differently in the preview, but are processed differently when generating the final mosaic. Because a selected check box may decrease rendering performance, this check box is clear, by default.
- Color balancing: Displays the effects of all color-balancing adjustments.
  With a clear check box, images appear without incorporating any color-balancing adjustments. By default, this check box is selected.
- Dodging surface: Selected by default, this check box determines whether or not to display the modified surface of the mosaic by using dodging points.
  With a clear check box, the visibility of the dodging surface is turned off completely. This can be useful in situations in which you are making edits, such as to cutlines, and you want to have better control (performance) over correct display. If you intend on editing dodging points in your mosaic, make sure the check box is selected.
  Note: The Dodging surface check box affects only the visibility of dodging points in your mosaic. Other changes, such as to brightness or contrast, will still be visible.
- Cutline blending in Collection Viewer: Cutlines that have a nonzero blend width are feathered to show the effect of the blending operation in the Collection Viewer.
  With a clear check box, cutline blending is not previewed in the Collection Viewer. Cutline edges may appear more abrupt in the preview than in the final mosaic. By default, this check box is selected.
- Cutline blending in main view: Cutlines that have a nonzero blend width are feathered to show the effect of the blending operation in the Mosaic Tool window.
  With a clear check box, cutline blending is not previewed. Cutline edges may appear more abrupt in the preview than in the final mosaic. By default, this check box is selected.
- Cutline highlight using topology: When this check box is selected, the selected cutline appears in the Mosaic Tool window with a dotted line delimiting the section of the cutline obscured by other images covering the affected area.
  In most cases, modifying the dotted section of the cutline will have no impact on the final mosaic, because the area is covered by other images. With a clear check box, the cutline is highlighted normally, without differentiating any part of the cutline. This check box is selected, by default. With cutlines that are very complex, a clear check box reduces rendering time.
