Creating a new cutline

If necessary, you can create a new cutline.

Tip: If you want to create or modify a cutline vertex beyond the data-extents polygon, while holding down the Ctrl key, click where you want to create or modify the vertex.

Note: When creating a new cutline, it is recommended that you include some overlap between the images. For more information on cutlines, see Understanding cutlines.

To create a cutine

  1. In the Mosaic Tool window, in the control pane, select the layer to which you want to add a new cutline.
  2. On the Zoom toolbar, click Zoom Interactive, and then drag a selection area on the layer for which you want to create a new cutline.
  3. On the Editing toolbar, click the arrow beside New Cutline, and then click the shape you want.
    You can select from the following:
    • Polygon
    • Rectangle
    • Ellipse
  4. In the view pane, do one or more of the following:
    • With Polygon selected, click point-to-point to draw a polygon around the area you want, and then double-click to complete the shape.
    • With Rectangle selected, drag to create the size of the rectangle you want.
    • With Ellipse selected, drag to create the size of the ellipse you want.
