Creating a new layer field

In the New Layer Field window, you can create a new field in the selected layer with a default value you specify. You can enter a default value other than the one provided, such as NoData. In this context, you can only create a new string field.

To create a new layer field

  1. In the Field Name box, type a name for the new field.
  2. In the Field Type list, select a type for the new field.
  3. In the Default Value box, type a value to use as the default for the new field.
  4. Click Create.

    The field you created is added to the Class field list in the Object Analyst window for rule-based classification.

  5. Return to setting up Rule-based Classification.
