Automatically re-enhancing a layer when the display changes

An enhancement is calculated by building a histogram with the range of values available in the Focus view pane. If necessary, you can select whether to recalculate the histogram when your RGB or grayscale layer display changes; for example, after panning or zooming. When Auto re-enhance is selected, the histogram will be recomputed using the pixels viewed currently each time the display changes. When Auto re-enhance, is not selected, enhancement of the layer will not be adjusted automatically.

You can use Auto re-enhance for a specific RGB or grayscale layer, or for each existing layer and those opened subsequently.

To automatically re-enhance a specific layer, do the following:
1. On the Maps tab, right-click a grayscale or RGB layer, point to Enhance, and then click Auto re-enhance.
  A check mark appears next to Auto re-enhance and the RGB or grayscale layer is automatically re-enhanced whenever the display changes.
To automatically re-enhance each existing layer and those opened subsequently, do the following:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  The Options window appears.
2. In the navigation pane, click Layers.
3. Under Rasters, select the Auto re-enhance grayscale and RGB layers check box.
Each existing grayscale and RGB layer and those opened subsequently will be re-enhanced automatically whenever the display changes.
