Selecting all shapes within a specified distance

The Within Distance tool selects shapes that fall completely or partially within a specified distance of a select shape or area. If you do not select a shape or area, the distance is calculated from the location of the cursor.

  1. On the Editing toolbar, click the arrow beside Selection Tools, and then click the tool you want.
  2. Click a shape or select an area.
  3. On the Editing toolbar, click the arrow beside Spatial Query, and then click Within Distance.
  4. In the Within Distance window, type a number in the Distance box, and then in the list to the right, click a unit of measurement.
  5. Click OK.
