Setting tail trim

You can control the calculation of each of the standard enhancements before they are applied to an image by adjusting the tail trim. The pixel values for the image are stretched over the dynamic range, but the lowest and highest pixel values can be omitted from the enhancement computation. You can adjust the range of tail trim from one through five percent.

To set tail trim

  1. On the Enhancement toolbar, click the arrow beside Enhancements, and then click Tail Trim.

A check mark appears beside Tail Trim, indicating it is selected.

  2. To adjust the amount of tail trim, click the arrow beside Enhancements, point to Set Trim %, and then click the number representing the percentage of tail trim you want.

To see the result in the view pane, reapply the enhancement. If you want even finer control over tail trimming, you can set up custom tail trimming of the histogram.
