If necessary, you can adjust the position of the north-arrow relevant to the label.
To adjust the position of the north-arrow label
In the North Arrow Properties window, click the True North tab, and then click Advanced.
The North arrow heading - Advanced window appears.
In the the Distance from arrow spin box, type or select a value to represent the space between the arrow and the label, and then from the list to the right, select a unit of measurement.
Beside Angle, do one of the following:
To adjust the angle of the label, click Custom, type or select a value to represent the angle you want, and then from the lsit to the right, select a unit of measurement.
To adjust the angle of the label so it is vertical to the baseline of the map, click Perpendicular.
To adjust the angle of the label so it coincides with the baseline of the map, click Parallel.
Beside Alignment, do one of the following:
To place the label to the left of the arow, click Left.
To center the label over the arrow, click Center.
To place the label to the right of the arrow, click Right.
