Creating a subset script

When you want to reuse the subset parameters you set up in the Subset File window, save the file as a subset script.

To create a subset script

  1. From the Subset File window, click Browse to change the Source file, if desired. By default, the source file is the file currently open in the File Utility. Use the File Selector to navigate to and select the file to subset, then click Open.
  2. Specify the Destination file. Click Browse to open the File Selector, or type the path and file name directly in the Destination File field.
  3. Select the format for the subset file from the Output format list, and type format options in the Options field. The list of available layers in the source file appears in the Source Layers section.
  4. Define the size and position of the subset area by specifying the parameters in the Database Size section. Click Preview to display the image in the preview window.
Define the size of the subset area:
    • Click Square, Overview, or Bisect
    • Resize and position the subset area using your mouse pointer
Define the position of the subset area:
    • Use the navigation arrows
    • Click and drag the subset area using your mouse pointer
    • Type the boundary values in the coordinate fields. Use the drop-down list to specify the coordinate type.
  5. In the Selectable Layers section, select the Source Layers to include in the output file.

Use the View list box to specify which layer or segment types to display.

Click Select All to select all the listed source layers, or use Shift-Click or Ctrl-Click to select multiple layers from the list.

  6. Click Add to export the selected layers to the Destination Layers list. To remove a layer from the Destination Layers, select it and click Remove.
  7. Use the Up and Down arrows to re-order the layers in the Destination Layers list.
  8. Activate the Clip Vectors button to include vector layers in the output file.
  9. To create multiple subset areas for the same image file, click the Subset Script button at the bottom of the window.

Use the File Selector to locate and select the script file, and click Open.

The subset script file specifies the coordinates and output file names for each of the separate subset areas. For more information, see Creating a subset script.

  10. Click Subset.

The subset file is created according to the defined parameters.
