The TypeSplit module separates different layer types and feeds each layer type to a separate output port. The input port for a TypeSplit module is always a Mixed input port. You must configure the TypeSplit module to display the required output port or ports.
The TypeMerge module merges layers of different data types. In the merge process, the merged data is placed in the cache as separate layers. Each layer type requires a separate input port. Fat and thin pipes of any layer type can enter a TypeMerge module. The output port of TypeMerge module is always a fat Mixed port because two or more data layers are combined. For information on Mixed ports, see Module graphical elements. The TypeMerge module is not configurable.
