About the Numeric Values window

In the Numeric Values window you can view and edit the individual pixel values for raster layers. Each table provides a sample of values that correspond to the cursor coordinates in the view pane. You can change the sample of values by moving the cursor in the view pane. You can also switch the values to show either raw or enhanced data.

With data that is not complex-valued, raw data values represent the value stored on disk, while the enhanced values (RGB and grayscale only) represent the value used by the display, which ranges from zero through 255.

When Raw data is selected, the raw-data values are displayed. If the layer is complex valued, the value corresponds to the data interpretation associated with the complex layer that is defined. The data interpretations available for complex layers are as follows:

The default representation for complex values is Intensity. The selected data interpretation appears in parentheses beside Raw data.

With a complex-valued layer selected, you can examine the complex-valued output. With data sets stored as Cartesian values, the complex-valued output is displayed as a + bi, where a is the real part and b is the imaginary part. With data sets stored as polar coordinates, the complex values are displayed as A, d°, where A is the amplitude and is the phase in degrees.

The row and column numbers at the top and left side of the table indicate the line-and-pixel coordinates of the displayed value.

With an RGB map layer, three tables are displayed, each corresponding to the channels being mapped. The values of the red, green, and blue channels are indicated by the color of the cell border.
