On the Default representation page, you can select the default point, line, and polygon representations for vector layers.
When you open a vector layer, the selected default representation set is applied to the layer. This default remains a property of the layer while the layer is open.
Changing the selected default representation does not affect the vector layers that are open currently in the viewer; that is, changes you make affect only layers you open subsequently.
To define the default representation style for a data type
The Style Selector window appears, in which you can modify the style.
That is, with the check box selected, similar data types are displayed in various colors across vector layers. The color specified for the data type’s first part is ignored and, instead, cycles through the predefined colors for each layer. For example, a polygon style is defined as a multipart style with Part 1 as blue fill and Part 2 as a thin black outline. With the Cycle colors check box selected, the polygons of the first layer are displayed in red with a black outline. Subsequent layers will appear with a blue fill, then green, and so on. The outline remains unchanged.
With a clear check box, the color specified in the style will be used to display all vectors of that type, across all vector layers.
