You can use Clone View in situations in which you want to compare imagery. Essentially, a clone view is to view the image in another instance of the Focus window. You can open as many clone views as you want. Each instance has the same entries on the Maps and Files tabs as the source project. Each map in the clone view is prefixed with Clone of to indicate that it is a duplicate of the source map.
Clone View is handy when, for example, you want to compare a classified image with a reference image. You can open the reference image in the Focus window, and then view the classified image in another instance of the Focus window. You can also find Clone View helpful when working with multitemporal imagery: you can open several independently enhanced versions of the same image to help discriminate certain features.
Each clone view is independent of the view in the Focus window of the source project. Changes made to the project are not reflected in the cloned window. After opening a clone view, you can open a new image in the Focus window of the source project without affecting the cloned view.
You can also chain clone views.
A new instance of the Focus window appears.
