In the Load Vectors window, you can import a new vector layer from a database file. Each layer you import creates a new one in memory. Each new vector layer is placed at the highest level of priority relative to the existing vector layers.
To load a vector layer
- In the Database Vector Segments list, select the layer you want.
- Do one of the following:
- To import the the vector layer, and keep the Load Vectors window open, click Load.
- To import the the vector layer, and close the Load Vectors window, click Load and Close.
If you want to select a new database from which to import a vector layer, click New File, and then select the file you want.
Important: Each vector layer is loaded into memory. Depending on the amount available, it is possible that there may be insufficient memory to load a very large vector layer. In such cases, you can select Compact Vectors to reduce the amount of memory used by a vector layer.
