When you are opening an image that contains several channels, you can select which ones to display in your project. When the Database Channels window opens, you can select up to three channels to display in the viewer.
With the Average image feature, you can control how the image pixels are displayed in the viewer. One screen pixel can represent many image pixels. Average image calculates the average value of that group of image pixels and uses that value for the screen pixel. This process is also known as block averaging. The process often produces a more meaningful representation of the image in the viewer.
