Automatically collecting fiducial marks

After manually collecting the fiducial marks for one of your images, OrthoEngine can use automated pattern matching to automatically collect the fiducial marks for the remaining images in your project. You can then, if necessary, estimate damaged or missing fiducial marks.

To automatically collect fiducial marks

  1. Import all of the images into your project.
  2. Manually collect the fiducial marks for one image.
  3. When you are satisfied with the results for the image, click Auto Fiducial Collection.
  4. In the Auto Fiducial Collection window, do one of the following:
    • To use a threshold you specify, click the Use Threshold check box, and then enter a value, in pixels, in the Error Threshold box.

OrthoEngine will attempt to replace the existing fiducial marks based on the current template image. Any fiducial marks with an error that is below the threshold value will remain unchanged. When this check box is left clear, OrthoEngine will attempt to update all of the fiducial marks in the project.

    • To specify whether OrthoEngine should attempt to update the fiducial marks of all images that have three or more existing fiducial marks, click the Overwrite image with 3 fiducial marks check box.
Note: If in the Scanned-film Camera Calibration Information window you selected the position of the fiducial marks as Edge and corner, the update will apply to images with five or more existing fiducial marks.
  5. Click Run.

You can verify the accuracy of the fiducial marks collected in the Fiducial Mark Collection window, under Errors, or you can view the Fiducial.rpt file in the folder in which the project is saved.
