User projections

The User Projections tab of the Other Projections window lists a number of map projection definitions that have been defined for use in different parts of the world. These use one of the map projections listed on the Generic projections tab with the specific map projection parameters that are used in that part of the world.

When you select a projection on this tab, the Earth Model and map projection parameters for that map projection definition are used. You don't have to fill in all the required fields by hand like you do if you use a generic projection.

The User Projection definitions are stored in a text file called userproj.txt, which is stored in the etc folder of your CATALYST Professional install location. If you have one or more specific map projection definitions that are used frequently and that are not already supported, you can add these to userproj.txt using a text file editor. They will be available in future CATALYST Professional sessions from the User Projections tab.
