Data product name and description

PeruSat-1 is a high-resolution Earth-observation satellite system that was launched into Sun-synchronous orbit in September 2016. The spacecraft monitors the surface of the Earth and captures high-resolution imagery.

Note: The information provided herein is based on the data distributor's documentation cited under References.

Notes

B1 (Blue): 450 - 520
B2 (Green): 530 - 590
B3 (Red): 630 - 700
B4 (NIR): 752 - 885
PAN (Panchromatic): 450 - 750

PAN: 0.7 (12-bit)
MS: 2.8 (12-bit)

Ranges from 10 to 60 kilometers at nadir depending on ground sample distance (GSD) and number of detectors.

PeruSAT-1: 17 kilometers

N/A

* Resolution is always nadir position unless noted otherwise.

PeruSAT-1 image data is available in two processing levels:
  • Level 2A
  • Level 3
Each product is provided as a bundle (pan + four multispectral) or as pansharpened (four pansharpened bands).
Processing level Horizontal accuracy (m) Description/notes
2A

Restored sensor product.

In the filename, SEN is the identifier. The value in DIMAP is SENSOR.

3   Ortho product.

In the filename, ORT is the identifier. The value in DIMAP is ORTHO.

Distributed as separate panchromatic and multispectral data sets, or as a pansharpened project.

Distribution disk files

A PeruSAT-1 data set is organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this folder structure and the file names to identify the data product type.

Warning: Data sets for this sensor are organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this structure and the file names to identify the data product type. Do not alter the folder structure or any file names prior to data ingestion to ensure the image data and auxiliary information are imported correctly.

You can open a PeruSAT-1 data set by selecting the dim_per1_*.xml file in the IMG_PER1_* folder.

When opening a PeruSAT-1 data set, the files read by GDB are as described in the following table.

File name Format Required Contents/details
dim_per1_*.xml DIMAP Yes Key file name. Contains metadata that applies to the data set.
img_per1_*.tif GeoTIFF Yes Image data.
rpc_per1_*.xml RPC data Yes Rational function model.
preview_per1_*.jpg Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) file Yes Image thumbnail file.

Naming convention of image product-level metadata file

The <IMG_DirImage_ID> folder contains the following files:
  • icon_<product_ID>.jpg
  • img_<product_ID>.tif
  • img_<product_ID>.tfw
  • preview_<product_ID>.jpg
  • preview_<product_ID>.kmz
  • rpc_<product_ID>.xml
DirImage_ID is defined as follows:
  • <MISSION><MISSION_INDEX>_<PROCESSING_LVL>_<SPECTRAL_PROCESSING> _<FIRST_LINE_ALBUM> (Restored Sensor and Ortho products)
  • Example: per1_ort_pms_000856
  • —or—
  • <MISSION><MISSION_INDEX>_<PROCESSING_LVL>_<SPECTRAL_PROCESSING>_ <FIRST_LINE_ALBUM>_<NUM_RETINA> (Level 0 or Level 1 products, which contain as many images as the number of retinas in the instrument).
  • Example: per1_ l1_pms_000856_a
Product_ID is defined as follows:
  • <MISSION><MISSION_INDEX>_<IMAGING_D><IMAGING_T>_<PROCESSING_LVL>_ < SPECTRAL_PROCESSING>_<FIRST_LINE_ALBUM>
  • Example: per1_201002191022416_ort_pms_000856

Returned data for supported format

PeruSAT-1 data can be opened directly in its raw vendor format or imported into a PCIDSK (*.pix) file using the key file name (*_aux.xml). For optimal processing, use the PCIDSK format.

The data structure, after it is opened by GDB, is as described in the following table.
