With the Pansharpening module, you can automatically pansharpen multispectral imagery by using a corresponding, high-resolution panchromatic image. The module can pansharpen orthorectified multispectral imagery with orthorectified panchromatic imagery, or it can perform pansharpening by using raw imagery, provided that the sensor from which the data originates supports raw pansharpening processes (for example, IKONOS OrthoReady products).
When using orthorectified imagery as input to the pansharpening process, make sure that the orthorectified panchromatic and multispectral scenes align well. This ensures that the pansharpened image product resulting from the combination of the two data sets is accurate and absent of any ghosting effects.
When using raw imagery (in which the panchromatic and multispectral scenes are already coregistered) as input, the output pansharpened image product will not contain any ghosting effects.
