After ingesting the raw satellite imagery, it is important to analyze it for quality assurance (QA) to ensure that the results produced by the module are acceptable for use in subsequent processes.
For each scene processed, the Data Ingest and GCP Collection module creates a series of auxiliary files useful for performing QA. The module also creates a set of CATALYST Professional OrthoEngine project files that contain the collected GCPs. You can open these project files in OrthoEngine to view or edit the GCPs, add new GCPs, and export any new math model created for that file.
Finally, the module creates a summary report that provides a brief synopsis of all of the ingested images, the number of GCPs collected for each scene (if any), and the residuals for the GCPs collected for each scene. This report can help you to quickly viewing the residuals for all scenes and identify any problematic scenes.
The primary QA task for this module is to verify the GCPs collected during the ingest process.
Check the GCP Residuals Summary report
Are there any scenes with very high residuals? Are there any scenes that do not have adequate coverage?
Examine problematic scenes
For any scenes that you identify as potentially problematic, open the corresponding OrthoEngine project file in OrthoEngine.
Examine collected GCPs
Review the collected GCPs and compare them against their reference source. Do they align well? Are the GCPs collected in good locations?
