Parameter descriptions

Input Folder

The path and name of the folder containing images for which to build pyramids.

Images must be in a GDB-supported format and must be writable.

Note: Any existing pyramids in the input files will be overwritten.

File Name Masks

A comma-delimited string specifying file-name patterns to match. If a file in the defined Input Scenes folder matches a mask, the module processes that file. If this parameter is left blank then only *.pix and *.tif files are processed.

General job details

Preprocessing requirements

Before running this module, the following requirements must be met:
  • The input raster images must be in a GDB-supported file format
  • Input images must be writable

Module details

The Pyramid module creates pyramids (raster overviews) to accelerate loading the raster.

You should create pyramids for all reference data required for GCP collection, including reference images and digital elevation models (DEM). Pyramids increase the performance of GCP collection and other operations in CATALYST Enterprise .

Pyramids are rasters derived from the original raster, but reduced in size and resolution to improve performance when you zoom out of the raster. Smaller and lower-resolution rasters display faster. In the process, detail is reduced. The number of levels that can be created depends on the original size of the raster.

The following image shows an example of pyramid levels.

Understanding pyramids

Job results

The Pyramid module creates pyramids for all supported files in the folder specified for the Input Folder parameter, based on the specified file masks.

By default, CATALYST Enterprise creates pyramid levels of 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,...
