Senior InSAR Data Scientist, Radar Remote Sensing

We are seeking an experienced InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) Data Science specialist to aid in the development of radar remote sensing tools.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proven expertise in InSAR methodologies, and the ability to develop advanced solutions for processing and interpreting InSAR data. This exciting role demands hands-on development, technical leadership, and collaborative teamwork.

SCOPE OF THE JOB

  • Work with product owners and scientists to solve complex (PS) InSAR problems
  • InSAR Software Development:
    • Contribute to developing scalable tools and software for radar remote sensing.
    • Extend the InSAR capabilities of our existing geospatial platform.
  • InSAR Data Analysis:
    • Design, implement, and optimize algorithms for processing and analysis of InSAR datasets.
    • Enhance workflows for deformation analysis, atmospheric modelling, and coherence analysis.
  • Research & Development:
    • Stay at the forefront of radar remote sensing technologies
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance geospatial analytics across CATALYST.
  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Provide technical guidance to junior team members and peers.
    • Lead technical discussions, presentations, and client interactions.

 

Requirements
  • Required Experience: 4+ years of professional InSAR experience
  • Must have technical skills:
  • Master’s or higher in a (Geo)-Physics, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Prior professional Data Scientist experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Strong understanding of SAR theory and electromagnetic / radar signal propagation principles.
  • Nice to have technical skills:
    • Experience with multiple radar data systems (e.g., Sentinel-1, TerraSAR-X, COSMO-SkyMed)
    • Experience building/debugging cross platform applications (Windows and Linux)
    • Azure DevOps experience
    • Experience with GIS platforms (e.g., QGIS) and related libraries (e.g., GDAL, Rasterio).
    • Familiarity with modern software testing practices.
    • Project management skills and attention to detail for planning, execution, and reporting
