Acquiring symmetric scattering parameters

After you select Pixel plus clutter estimation region as the target mode, and a target, you can obtain information about symmetric scattering parameters. This analysis requires a fully polarimetric single-look complex data set.

To acquire symmetric scattering parameters

  1. In the SAR Polarimetry Target Analysis window, under Target Selection Mode, select Pixel plus clutter estimation region.
  2. In the Target Selection window, click a target pixel.
  3. In the SAR Polarimetry Target Analysis window, if not displayed actively, expand Numerical Output.
  4. Under Coherent Target Decomposition, in the Signal to clutter ratio (dB) box, type a number.

The default value is 15, because it is the standard value for coherent target decomposition.

  5. Under Symmetric scattering parameters, in the Degree of symmetry box, type a number.

The default value for the degree of symmetry is 0.924.

  6. In the Degree of coherence box, type a number.

The default value for the degree of coherence is 0.8.

  7. Select the Symmetric scattering characterization check box.
  8. Click Compute.

The following is an example of the information displayed in the Results box:

    Symmetric scattering characterization: TSCR = 10.0, TDS = 0.923879532511
    Scattering vector direction: 39.361 (degree)
    Phase difference: -161.647 (degree)
    Target sphere angle: 84.067 (degree)
    Target sphere angle: 8.993 (degree)
    Rotation angle: -15.566 (degree)
