Selecting parameters and discriminators

After you select a target mode and a target, you can generate parameter and discriminator information. The parameters available depend on the target-selection mode.

To select parameters and discriminators

  1. In the SAR Polarimetry Target Analysis window, under Target Selection Mode, select a mode.
  2. In the Target Selection window, click a target pixel.
  3. In the SAR Polarimetry Target Analysis window, if not displayed actively, expand Numerical Output.
  4. Under Parameters and Discriminators, select one or more of the following check boxes:
    • Total power
    • Pedestal height
Note: Pedestal height information can be obtained for MLC data products only.
    • Pauli components
Note: Pauli components are available for SLC data products only.
    • van Zyl classification
    • Freeman-Durden parameters
    • Cloude-Pottier classification
    • Polarimetric discriminators
    • Touzi decomposition
    • H\A\a\B
  5. Click Compute.

The following are examples of the information displayed in the Results box, depending on the selected parameters and discriminators:

    Total Power: 0.505 (linear)

    Pedestal Height: 0.098 (linear)

Note: If your data is unfiltered (that is, single-look), your results will be different for Cloude-Pottier and van Zyl classifications. SAR Polarimetry Target Analysis will calculate an average value for the specified target area and provide one numerical output result for each classification method.
