FFTPB method

For more consistently accurate results with limited blunders, FFTPB is recommended. This method uses FFTP at its core, but uses advanced techniques to eliminate blunders that FFTP may produce.

To automatically collect TPs using FFTPB

  1. In the Tie points per image box, type or select the number of TPs to collect on each image.

The higher the number, the more TPs OrthoEngine will attempt to collect, and the more processing time will be required. The actual number of collected TPs may be higher or lower than the number you specify.

  2. In the Matching channel box, enter the channel to use during collection.

Using the green channel, if it exists, usually produces the best results.

  3. In the Search radius box, type the number representing the size of the area on the target image.

Unlike the FFTP matching method, FFTPB uses a larger search radius without sacrificing performance or quality. This allows FFTPB to better handle aerial projects where initial exterior orientation is off, or satellite projects where the initial models are bad.

  4. In the Min. acceptance score box, type a value between 0.65 and 1.

The value defines the minimum correlation score that will be considered a successful match. The best correlation score is one. Decreasing the score will generate more points.

  5. Proceed to Selecting images, start time, and run.
