Defining a clip region

A clip region identifies an area of interest (AOI) as an input window in an uncorrected satellite or aerial image. OrthoEngine processes only the area inside the clip region, which results in smaller files and faster processing. You can also use a clip region to remove the data strip and fiducial marks from images.

To define a clip region

  1. In the Open Image window, select an image, and then click Open.

If you do not have the Open Image window open, in the OrthoEngine window, in the Processing step list, click Open new or existing image.

  2. To define the clip region, do any of the following:
    • In the main view of the viewer, drag the bounding box to the AOI, and size the box accordingly.
    • In the Define Clip Region window, beside Upper left, type the image coordinates of the upper-left corner in the X and Y boxes, respectively. To determine the size of the clip region, beside Size, type the number of pixels in the X box, and then the number of lines in the Y box.
Tip: If necessary, you can drag the clip region to a new location.
  3. Click Close.
Note: You can reset the clip region to the whole image by clicking Reset in the Define Clip Region window.
