Defining a match area

You can use a match area to adjust color balancing by using only those pixels within the defined polygon to compute the histograms and create the output lookup table (LUT) for your images. You can define more than one area.

To define a match area

  1. In the Mosaic Tool window, in the view pane, zoom and pan, as necessary, to the area of interest.
  2. In the control pane, select the layer on which you want to define a match area.
  3. On the Editing toolbar, click the arrow beside New Match Area, and then click the shape you want.
    You can select from the following:
    • Polygon
    • Rectangle
    • Ellipse
  4. In the view pane, do one or more of the following:
    • With Polygon selected, click point-to-point to draw a polygon around the area you want, and then double-click to complete the shape.
    • With Rectangle selected, drag to create the size of the rectangle you want.
    • With Ellipse selected, drag to create the size of the ellipse you want.
