Reforming shapes by using interactive edits

An alternative to reforming shapes with Automatic dissolve is to use Interactive edits. To do so, you must select a layer that contains one or more polygons with class information.

To reform shapes by using interactive edits

  1. In the Object Analyst window, in the list under Operation, select Post-classification Editing.

The display is refreshed to show the settings for reforming shapes.

  2. Under Type, click Interactive edits.
  3. Under Vector Layer, click Select, and then in the Layer Selection window, do the following:
    1. In the File box, type or select the file you want.

If the file you want does not appear in the list, click Browse, and then select the file you want.

    2. In the Select column of the table, click the vector layer you want.

A check mark appears in the column.

    3. Click OK.
  4. Under Editing Tools, click Individual Select list, and then do one or both of the following, as applicable:
    • To merge two or more polygons, in the viewer, click the first polygon, and then click each additional polygon you want to merge.
    • To split a polygon, in the viewer, click the polygon you want to split.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • To add the operation to the Process Canvas box, click Add.
    • To add the operation to the canvas and run the process, click Add and Run.
