Selecting shapes within or partially within a polygon

By using the Area command, you can easily select shapes within or partially within a polygon

To select shapes within or partially within a polygon

  1. On the Editing toolbar, click the arrow beside Selection Tools, and then click Area.
  2. In the view pane, click each vertex that you want to include in the area.
  3. Double-click the last vertex to enclose the polygon.

    All the shapes inside or that touch the polygon are selected.

    Tip: To add additional shapes to your selection, hold down the Shift key, and then digitize another polygon.
