Setting the angle and style for the grid north arrow

A grid north arrow points northerly along a grid line parallel to the central meridian of the projection. This arrow is most often used in topographic maps.

To set the angle and style for a grid north arrow

  1. In the North Arrow Properties window, click the Grid North tab.
  2. Make sure the Show grid north arrow check box is selected.
  3. In the Angle box, type or select a value to represent the counterclockwise rotation that you want to apply so that the arrow points north, and from the list to the right, select a unit of angular measurement.
  4. Beside Style, click the button, and then create an arrow style (see Selecting a style).
  5. To add a label to the arrow, make sure the Show arrow label check box is selected, and then in the box to the right, type or select the label you want.

To customize the position of the label, click Advanced.

  6. To select a style for the label text, beside Style, click the button, and then create a font style.
