Organizing legend columns

You can specify the list item that appears at the top of each column, customize the width and margins of the individual columns, and define a style for a border.

To organize legend columns

In the Legend Properties window, click the Columns tab.
In the Edit column list, select the number of the column you want to edit.
In the Select start item for this column list, select the legend item to list as the first item in the selected column .
If you want to revert to the default, click Reset start items.
in the Width box, type or select a value that represents the width of the selected column, and then from the list to the right, select a unit of measurement.
If you want all columns to be of equal width, select the Keep all columns same width check box.
Beside Margin, do the following:
- In the Left box, type or select a value to represent the distance between the left border and the left side of the legend items.
- In the Right box, type or select a value to represent the distance between the right border and the right side of the legend items.
To keep the margin sizes equal, select the Keep equal check box.
Select the Show column border check box.
Beside Style, click the button, and then create a style (see Selecting a style).
