Setting the color composition of RGB and grayscale map layers

The RGB Mapper window displays the color composition of the active map layer. You can change or map the channel data to a color element and see the changes in the viewer in real time.

You can perform RGB mapping on more than one map layer at a time. When you have more than one map layer selected on the Maps tab, on the Layer menu, click RGB Mapper. The RGB Mapper (multi-select) window appears.

In the RGB Mapper window, the active RGB or grayscale map layer to which you are applying the new mappings appears beside Target map layer.

The RGB Mapper (multi-select) window displays the following information:
  • Target map layer: Always shows "All selected layers", because any edits to the channel mappings will be applied to each of the selected layers.
  • Active layer: The name of the active RGB or grayscale map layer.

In the table below Target map layer, the channels from the active map layer available for red, green, and blue mapping are displayed.

To set the color composition of map layers

  1. In the Maps tree, select an RGB or grayscale layer or multiple layers.
  2. On the Layer menu, click RGB Mapper.

    The RGB Mapper window appears.

  3. In the Red, Green, and Blue columns, as applicable, click next to the image channel or channels to specify the color composition of the onscreen image.

The displayed image changes according to the new mapping.

If multiple images are selected, proceed to the next step.

  4. With multiple map layer selections, do one of the following after making changes:
    • To apply your changes to the viewer, click Apply.
    • To apply your changes and close the RGB Mapper (multi-select) window, click OK.
Tip: If you previously applied an enhancement, reapply it to better see the result.
