Finding an algorithm

An alternative to navigating the folder structure of the Algorithm Library is to search for the algorithm you want to use. This is handy, for example, when perhaps you cannot remember the folder in which the algorithm is located.

To find an algorithm

  1. In the Algorithm Librarian window, click Find.

    The Find Algorithm window appears.

  2. In the Find what box, type the name of the algorithm, a portion thereof, or type one or more keywords.

The keywords you can search by are any that occur in the algorithm caption.

  3. If necessary, select one or more of the check boxes to narrow your search:
    • Match algorithm name: searches on the specific value you type in the Find what box.

For example, if you type LAERUN, selecting this check box limits the search to only those algorithms named LAERUN (of which there is only one, as the name of each algorithm is unique).

    • Match algorithm description using any keyword: searches on a single keyword you type in the Find what box
    • Match algorithm description using all keywords: searches on one or more keywords you type in the Find what box.

You need not separate the keywords with commas or semicolons, and you can specify the keywords in any order.

    • Wrap around: select this check box to continuously cycle through the matching algorithms, or clear the check box to cycle through only once.

When this check box is clear, a message displays when you reach the end of the cycle.

  4. Click Find Next.

If there is an algorithm matching the value you typed in the Find what box, it appears selected in the Algorithm Librarian window and the name of the algorithm also appears in the title bar. To find any additional algorithms matching your search, click Find Next again.
