On the General tab, you can view and make changes to the general attributes, such as the description, type, and size, and the date on which the layer was created and last modified.
Description
The file name or description of the layer.
The information in the Description box, which you can modify, if necessary, is displayed on the Files tab.
Type
The file type of the layer.
Creation date
The time and date the layer was created.
Last updated
The time and date the layer was updated.
Locking status
Select this check box to make the layer read-only (locked).
When a layer is read-only, 
appears next to the layer on the Files tab, and the layer cannot be modified.
Raster size
The size of the layer in pixels and lines.
Data type
The type of data of the layer.
Overviews
Displays available overviews, if any.
