Metadata tab

The Metadata tab displays a table of the metadata associated with a file or layer selected on the Files tab of the Focus window.

Notice that an indicator is displayed at the bottom-right of the tab showing the number of metadata tags in the file or selected layer.

Sorting the table

By default, the table is sorted alphabetically in ascending order by the metadata-tag name. You can sort the table by column heading to dispay the content how you want.

To sort by column heading
  • Click the column heading by which you want to sort the information.
  • Click the column heading again to switch between descending and ascending order, and vice versa.

A Ascending icon beside the column heading indicates that the data is sorted alphabetically (for text data) or numerically (for numeric data) in ascending order. A Descending icon indicates that the data is sorted in descending order.

Filtering the table

In the Filter box, type a keyword, integer, or a combination thereof according to the value you want to search for. For example, to search for all metadata tags that are related to the satellite sensor, type sensor. Notice that as you type, the table is filtered according to the characters you enter. After you complete typing the word sensor, only those tags that contain the term are displayed. Notice, too that the indicator at the bottom-right of the tab shows the number of matching tags in the file or selected layer.

Number of metadata tags matching filter term

If you cannot find the metadata tag you are looking for—particularly when the table contains a large number of tags—broaden or narrow the search criteria, as necessary, and then try running your search again.

Using the toolbar

If necessary, you can use the toolbar to cut, copy, or paste metadata between one cell and another. You can also add and remove rows, as necessary.
