General tab

On the General tab, you can view and make changes to the general attributes, such as the description, type, and size, and the date on which the layer was created and last modified.

Description
The file name or description of the layer.

The information in the Description box, which you can modify, if necessary, is displayed on the Files tab.

Type
The file type of the layer.

Creation date
The time and date the layer was created.

Last updated
The time and date the layer was updated.

Raster size
The size of the layer in pixels and lines.

Interleaving type
The type of interleaving used in the file.

The following types are supported:

Band interleaved
All of the data for one band is stored together. This type provides superior performance when access to all of the bands is required simultaneously.
Pixel interleaved
Data for all of the bands is stored at a particular pixel. This type may provide better performance when access to all of the bands is required simultaneously.
File interleaved
Similar to Band interleaved, except the image-channel data is stored in external files, one file per band.
Tiled
Image data is organized in several square subimages. This type provides faster access when a subarea is extracted for viewing. The Tiled interleaving type also supports compression formats.

Note: When a file has fewer than two channels it is not interleaved and, therefore, a value of Not applicable is displayed.

Overviews
Displays available overviews, if any.

Pathname
Path and name of the file.
