The HELP command (HELP, H or ?) prints on-line help for specified topic and subtopics. Two modes of help are available - HTML or DOCSTYLE. The procedure HELPCFG can be run in EASI to switch between them.
HTML
The EASI HTML on-line help facility displays help in an HTML help viewer which displays a table of contents window and a content window. The HTML help viewer also provides a search capibility. The contents of the help in the HTML help viewer are broken out into separate help pages with hyperlinks to each section on each page. Thus, fine grained access to diplay the help for a particular section through a direct command from the EASI command-line is not supported in this mode.
DOCSTYLE
The EASI DOCSTYLE on-line help facility is modeled after the VAX/VMS on-line help command. The topic defaults to the EASI system help, if a topic is not specified. Up to 9 subtopics may be specified for a given topic. In practice, a maximum of 3 subtopics may exist for a topic. Topic names must NOT be abbreviated but subtopic names can be abbreviated if they are unique.
HELP [topic] [subtopic1] [subtopic2] [subtopic3] ...
The user can respond to the subtopic prompt by entering a subtopic (if one exists) or a command (<return> or ?).
1. <return> backup one level 2. ? redisplay help
The return key takes the help facility back one subtopic level. It may be used in succession to return to the EASI level.
The question mark prints the text for the current help topic again (in other words, run that by me one more time). It does not change the current subtopic help level.
The following diagram illustrates some of the help topics and subtopics that are available within the help facility. The topic specifies the program or procedure on which information is requested. Most topics contain several nested subtopic levels.
